The 17th Annual VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER will be held November 10 at the MCA Church in Fredericksburg. We celebrate our dedicated volunteers, recognizing the fact that we couldn’t have the library without them! Our guest speaker will be John Lorson, local writer, cyclist, and photographer, who will share stories and photos of his travels in the slow lane, in his presentation titled “Shots Along The Way.” Many know John through his weekly humor column “Send Help,” which has run in local newspapers for more than 18 years and is accompanied by the comic illustrations of his wife, Kristin Lorson. We look forward to a very fun evening! THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS- you’re the best!!

Telling Our Stories
One of the wonderful things about the library is that it is a place for people to come in; from the cold of winter, or the heat of summer; to sit awhile, find a good book, catch up on emails, or browse through the collection of items regarding the history of Fredericksburg. It is always amazing where people come from! Last summer there was a group traveling across the U.S. from France, and just happened to stop in at the Fredericksburg Community Library! The language barrier didn’t keep us from communicating our love for libraries and books!
We each have a story to tell. Those who have grown up in Fredericksburg; have lived here all their lives; or have lived here for a time, have memories of that time. This year the library board would like to make an effort to bring people together and tell their stories! You will be hearing more about this throughout the year. For now, you are invited to come to the library on Tuesday, March 31. We’ll be sharing ideas of how to preserve these stories. If you have ever thought “It sure would be great to get some of Mom & Dad’s, or Grandma & Grandpa’s stories down”, please join us on March 31, 6 p.m.!

I can’t think of a better present for your Valentine! We have lots of books here at the library- there is sure to be one to help take your mind off of winter! We hope to see you soon!

Christmas at the Library!
Santa Claus is comin’ to town this Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m., visiting the library, and listening to the Christmas wishes of all the good little boys and girls. We hope to see you there!
There are also a few reservation spots open for gingerbread house making at 10 a.m. Space is limited, so you must have a spot (and a house) reserved. Call the library, or stop in, to sign up. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and the most joyous of New Years!
If you & your family would like to add an ornament to the Community Christmas tree, you may drop it off at the library. Santa will be lighting the tree and starting his trains to run under it. Come and join in the fun!
